Making a unique "PT" (U.S. - WWII) Boat from a standard model kit

Geplaatst 4 jaren geleden
I received the "Frank's Mosquito Boat Hobbies" in a box full of parts several years ago. It was an Elco 77 foot, perhaps with the best lines of all of the PT boats.

There were many previous owners, perhaps at least four, and one of them started construction - not good as I had to undo everything and make repairs. As most of the PT boats had variations between them I did some searching to see which one I wanted this model to be. To my surprise PT-59, 60, and 61 were converted to gunboats. Lots of firepower! It too at least a year to put the information together before construction started.

This is not a true "how-to article" for building a PT-Gunboat but more along the lines of the research and feasibility of converting a model into a miniature replica of a historic and UNIQUE boat .
